Colt Single Action Army revolver, US Artillery series, .45 caliber, 5-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, frame #4547. Barrel #5369, triggerguard #17243 with “J” inspection, backstrap #17057with “C” inspection. Cylinder serial #8289. The barrel shows 80% original blue, some losses at the edges, correct feathering at the front sight, some minor scratches. The cylinder shows 30-50% blue, with the bluemostly in the flutes. Some scattered erosion and pinprick pitting. The ejector rod housing shows traces of blue. The ejector rod and spring are missing. The barrel is slightly unscrewed. The frame shows strong traces ofcase hardening drifting to silvery grey with some erosion pinprick pitting. The backstrap and triggerguard show 20-40% thinning blue. The grips are good to very good with no traces of inspections, a couple of smalllosses and edge wear. The hammer shows strong case hardening, approx. 30-50%. The action is tight, the bore very good. Note: Frame #4547 is in Custer range between 4507 (General Terry’s personal sidearm) and 4553
