Colt Single Action Army revolver US Artillery series, .45 Colt caliber, 5-1/2” arsenal shortened barrel, in fine to excellent original condition. Serial #32984. With letter of authentication by noted Colt expert John A. Kopec who describes the Colt in detail and mentions the serial number is close in range to #32948 which went to Troop C, 5th Cavalry serving in Arizona and New Mexico in pursuit of the Apache. Thetriggerguard is serial numbered 133065. Backstrap 133869. Shows “RAC” inspections. The barrel and cylinder were replacement parts added at time of refurbishing by arsenal and show “P” and “RAC” proofmarks.The ejector rod tube is marked “K”, which is correct for the refurbishing. The grips show the cartouche of Renaldo A. Carrand and refinished rather than replaced at time of refurbishing. Mr. Kopec states that theoriginal finish is remarkable and correct.
