Colt Single Action Army revolver, 7-1/2” barrel, serial #147497blue and case hardened finish, hardrubber eagle grips, right side of frame stamped in small block letters, “W. F. & CO’S. EX.” Factory letter states ‘.45caliber, 7-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, stocks not listed, sold and shipped to John Larson, C/O Collin’s Gun Company, August 29th, 1892. 18 guns in shipment’. Collins Gun Company was located in Omaha, NB, and boasted to be the oldest gun and sporting house West of Chicago in 1965. Many letters of correspondence from known old-time collectors Dick Elrad and Robert Voliva are included researching this singleaction and also a letter from Wells Fargo Bank noting correspondence with Elrad on this pistol. A photograph of messenger with a 7-1/2” barrel single action from 1916 publication “Wells Fargo Messenger”, page 96, is included. In our opinion the revolver is completely correct including this marking. Also a letter to the Omaha Historical Society dated 1966 states that the revolver was purchased by W. W. Kipp, American Express
