Colt Single Action Army revolver .45 long Colt caliber 4 ¾” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, shipped to J. F. Schmelzer & Sons, Kansas City, Kansas July 5, 1889, 10 guns in shipment, serial number 129479. A1995 dated letter states this gun was owned by a Deputy Marshal in Prescott, Arizona in 1889 signed by Mike Emery and addressed to John Pfeiffer well-known Minnesota collector and consigned by his estate. A MinnesotaWeapons Collectors Association newsletter dated 2008 fall issue number 22 pictures this single action on the cover and a featured article in the interior recants a story of “The Diablo Canyon Posse”. The Diablo Canyonposse pictures four members who are identified as Carl Holton, Jim black, Buckey O’Neill and Ed St. Clair. John Pfeiffer states in this well-written article about an old West posse chasing down an outlaw thatthis Colt Single Action Army, serial number 129479 belonged to Jim Black.
