Colt Single Action Army revolver .45 caliber, 7 ½” barrel early production with two line patent date, serial number 25908. The revolver shows some cleaning and minor restoration with replacement of blue finish and aging to simulate wear. The front sight has been slimmed halfway down. The barrel address is good and legible as are the patent dates. The grips are slightly undersized but of the correct period and are not a bad fit. Matching serial numbers that are slightly light with correct early ejector rod, cylinder pin and housing. The frame is a natural light gray and shows some pitting and has not been touched. The black powder hammer is of the early era and correct period and also shows some case hardening. The action is good, and the bore is fair to good. An attractive single action that is quite early and was “helped” in regards to the blue finish. Factory letter does not list barrel length and documents originally shipped blue to Spies Kissam & Co. New York, NY June 2nd, 1876 Gale Kennedy Historical West Collection. Est.: $1,400 -$2,800.
