Colt Single Action Army revolver, .45 caliber, 4-3/4” barrel, factory engraved, blue and case hardened finish, one-piece ivory grips, sold to Hibbard, Spencer, & Bartlett, shipped to W. S. Newby, on April10th, 1896. Serial #163950. Comments note: The #1029N indicate this arm was returned to the factory for refinishing and the #1029N is stamped on various interior parts including loading gate, under the grips, and an “&”under the guard. The pistol was originally shipped nickel with hardrubber grips. The factory letter is dated 1968, and address to one of America’s premier Colt collectors. The single action shows 90-95% factory blue andcase hardened finish, some losses at the edges, slight erosion, pinprick pitting, some dulling to the case hardening. The front sight has been slimmed slightly, the edges are crisp, the work is excellent as would beexpected from the Colt factory in the prewar era. The action is good, bore good, all matching serial numbers. The grips are thick ivory, well made, fit nicely, but not the configuration that Colt would have used,
