Colt Single Action Army revolver .45 caliber, 4-3/4” barrel, brown patina finish, ivory grips, backstrap script engraved “To Ed Echols from Will Rogers” in fancy old script. Serial #332750. The revolver shows an oldreblued finish of which traces remain, cleaning, carry, and a great deal of holstering. The front sight has been slimmed, the ivory grips are worn and show breaks and repairs. The action is good, bore issurprisingly good. Accompanying this Colt SAA revolver, #332750 is a file of copies of newspaper articles and materials on Sheriff Ed Echols including a notarized affidavit on Pima County, State of Arizona, Tucsonletterhead dated May 6, 1953, signed by Ed Echols, indicating the Colt “was given to me by the celebrated Will Rogers as a personal gift”. The document also states “I carried it (the gun) awhile when I was cattleinspector but it was too heavy for me to carry while I was Sheriff”. There also is a Colt factory letter from 1988 confirming features of the gun and indicating it was shipped to Phelps Dodge Merc. Co. in Douglas,
