Colt Single Action Army revolver, .45 Colt cal., 4-3/4" barrel, blue and case hardened finish, hard rubber grips, shipped to C. L. Berring Co. Houston, TX, August 30, 1922, four guns in shipment, #343474 with extensivedocumentation as to ownership of this revolver by noted Texas Sheriff Bill Decker of Dallas County, Texas. Bill Decker began his career in 1923 and served as Chief Deputy for Dallas County and died in office at theage of 71. He was instrumental in the capture of Bonnie & Clyde and worked closely with legendary Frank Hamer, the Ranger who brought down the infamous duo. It was Decker who set up the informants and gave Hamer the location. He was also instrumental in the capture of Raymond Hamilton, infamous Texas outlaw and he was sheriff during the Kennedy assassination and rode in the first car of the Presidential motorcade. He was honoredthroughout his lifetime as the most outstanding sheriff in the southwest.
