Colt Single Action Army revolver .44-40 caliber with 7 ½” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, hard rubber Eagle grips, shipped to William Beck and Sons Portland, Oregon May 5, 1887 one of 6 guns in shipmentwith factory letter. William Beck & Sons Arms Company were retailers of firearms in downtown Portland and was descended in a long line of famous Pennsylvania gunsmiths who were noted for their Kentucky rifles. BeckSr. was a pioneer gunsmith in the early Oregon territory era and he became very prominent in the business world and was well-recognized for building an important bridge and other engineering projects besides gun making. An interesting research portfolio with a reproduced photograph of his gun store is included. This etched barrel Single Action remains in original very good condition showing 50% to 70% original blueand case hardening aging nicely with some minor scattered erosion and pinprick pitting. There is some very bright and inky blue where protected and some very good case hardening showing on the entire frame. The
