Colt Single Action Army revolver, .44-40 caliber, 7-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, hard-rubber grips, serial #216418, shipped to Colt San Francisco agency, Oct. 19th 1901. Pictured in A Studyof the Colt Single Action Army Revolver by Kopec, Graham, and Moore, page 151. Formerly in the Mel Guy collection, this single action was of particular interest as it shows three sizes of die stamps used by the factory inthis era, which is the reason for its illustration in the book. The revolver shows beautiful finish which is known to this period. Approx. 95-98% original bright blue on barrel, slightly thinning at the muzzle.Some minor scratches and slight losses only. The ejector rod housing shows 80-90% original bright blue matching to the barrel with just slight loss at the edge. The cylinder shows 80-90% original blue, some normal edge wear,index line, and slight scratches. The frame shows 65-75% case hardening which is still colorful with rainbow hues, just some normal drifting and toning with some very bright and desirable color. The backstrap and
