Colt Single Action Army revolver, .44-40 caliber, 4-3/4” barrel, brown patina finish with traces of original blue, hard-rubber grips, serial #205123, with letter dated August 2nd 1910 attesting to ownership byiconic American author, Mark Twain. The hand-written letter is address to Robert L. Robertson 2314 W. 2nd St. St. Louis Missouri from Glen Rudolph. It states “this is the pistol … used by Mark Twain” and furtheralleges that it kicked too hard and hurt (Mr. Twain’s) ears, and that Twain decided to sell it to him for $22 and recants that he was a ‘pleasant gentlemen’. A copy of the letter is available to prospective buyers and it is written in fountain pen on lined paper. Factory letter states ‘shipped to Simmon’s Hardware, St. Louis, Missouri, January 31st 1901. 17 guns in shipment. Features confirmed. Grips and no otherinformation listed. The pistol remains in good to very good condition showing considerable original blue mixed with a brown patina, good markings, good grips, all matching visible serial numbers. Good action,
