Colt Single Action Army revolver, .44-40 cal., 4-3/4" barrel, blue and case hardened finish, hard rubber grips, shipped July 17, 1915 to Winchester Repeating Arms Co., New Haven, CT, sold to Charles Ilfeld,Albuquerque, Las Vegas, New Mexico, with all features verified by factory in phone call. The shipment from Colt to Winchester indicated it was probably shipped with a Winchester rifle to Ilfeld. The pistolretains 20-40% evenly drifting and toning blue and case hardened finish, some minor erosion and pinprick pitting; generally good edges, sharp markings and fairly crisp overall. The grips are good and fit well;the front sight has been trimmed slightly at the front edge. Action good, bore bright. This single action arrived in New Mexico right at the time of Pancho Villa, when New Mexico was ablaze. Est.: $3,500-$7,000
