Colt Single Action Army Revolver, US Artillery Series, .45 caliber, 5-1/2” barrel, no serial number on frame, serial number on trigger guard “7524”. This single action is pictures on page 101 of The Artillery Modelsand is one of three known non-serial numbered replacement frames which bear no “US” marking. A confirming letter to John A. Kopec from ATF recognizes this arm as a Curio & Relic, signed by Thurman Darr, ChiefTechnical Services Division. A letter from Kopec to Department of Treasury (ATF) stating this is one of three original unnumbered frames made by the arsenal into artillery models. The pistol remains in good to verygood condition with 10-20% original blue, some light pitting and erosion, barrel address light, frame markings good, no evidence of cartouche on grips. “RAC” and “P” proof on barrel, “RAC” marking on back ofcylinder.
