Colt Single Action Army Revolver, .45 caliber, 7-1/2” barrel, US Cavalry series, blue and case hardened finish, cartouche wood grips, soldier checkered during period of use. Serial #137708. The revolver is confirmed by factory letter which mentions caliber and sold to US government inspector at Colt plant, January 1891, 200 guns in shipment. The pistol remains in fine to excellent original condition. The barrel shows 95% blue finish with just some slight loss at the muzzle, good sharp barrel address, and RAC and P proofs on bottom of barrel. The barrel is numbered “7708” beneath the ejector rod housing and shows a “K” inspection by the early type boss. The ejector rod housing is early blackpowder type fitted to this barrel. The frame shows 85-95% original case hardening with just some drifting to silver still very bright rainbow hues, just slight age. The cylinder is an early blackpowder type and is numbered “7708” with “P” proof and RAC stamp. The cylinder shows 60% original blue with some scratches and an index line. The backstrap and triggerguard are serial numbered to match and show approx. 80-90% thinning original blue. The grips have been bunkhouse checkered, probably by the
