Offered for sale is a Rare Configuration Colt Single Action Army Bright Nickel Revolver. The revolver is in caliber .38-40 with extremely rare-for-caliber 7 ½” barrel with special order full nickel finish. comes with Colt Factory Historical letter showing this revolver with the above features was shipped to Montgomery Ward & Company, Chicago, Illinois on January 28, 1899. Nickel Colt Single Action Army revolvers were all special order as blue finish was considered standard. Also, very few in .38-40 caliber were made with 7 ½” barrels. The pistol is in very good condition, with nearly all the bright nickel remaining- even on the grip straps and sharp edges. The attractive factory blue remains on the screw heads and cylinder pin. All serial numbers match and all markings are sharp and clear. Perfect tight action and mechanics. There are no alterations or abuse associated with this exceptional original Colt that is easily museum quality.
