'First Generation' Refinished single action six-shot revolver chambered in .38-40 Winchester, circa 1899. Features a nickel plated refinish, 4 3/4" barrel with single line address, ejector rod, blade front sight, 'v' notched rear sight, checkered hammer spur, fluted cylinder, and Rampant Colt two-piece checkered black hard rubber grips(likely reproduction). Includes a Colt factory letter describing the original configuration as blued with a 5 ½” barrel and stating it was shipped to A. F. Shapleigh Hardware Company in St. Louis Missouri on January 10, 1900 in a two gun shipment. Markings are mostly good and all of the serial numbers match, each with the last digit “6” looking to be an over stamped “1”. The revolver retain nearly all of it’s nickel plated refinish showing handling wear, a drag line and light scattered oxidation. The backstrap has three distinct notches cut into it. Action is crisp with 3 clicks & good lock-up, bore is good with light rifling & some scattered light pitting and hard rubber grips are fine. Condition is good as refinished. ***C&R Firearm*** ***Modern Firearm***
