Colt Single Action Army .38-40 SN: 123786
Master engraved custom sheriff's model restored single action revolver chambered in .38-40, circa 1887. Fully and finely engraved by master engraver Ben Lane, signed & dated 1969. Mr. Lane works out of Texas and has produced show guns & masterpieces for the Colt factory, Colt Collectors Association, T.G.C.A., and for prominent collectors worldwide. This revolver served Ben as a display piece for more than 40 years and boasts ebony grips, beautifully carved by his wife Kay Lane. Kay used a 100 year old piece of furniture as material to make the grips and theses are the only grips she ever made out of this extremely hard ebony wood. Features a nickel finish, extra deep scroll engraving in Germanic 19th century style with Texas stars on frame & backstrap, 3.5" barrel, reduced front sight, v-notch rear sight, no ejector rod, fluted six-shot cylinder, checkered hammer spur and carved ebony one-piece grips with embossed eagle on left grip. Finish is superb with minimal handling wear. Action is smooth, re-stamped barrel address is sharp, bore shows good riffling and grips are fine. To reproduce at today's rates Mr. Lane estimates $10,000+, not including grips. Condition is excellent. ***Antique Firearm***
