Colt SAA revolver, period engraved, .44-40 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, nickel finish, period ivory grips, #80207. This gun is in overall very good condition showing traces of nickel finish in protected areas with New York style engraving on frame, barrel, ejector housing and backstrap, very good action, bore and markings, period inscription on the butt strap “J. Wright”; grips are very good with mellow aging and checkering on the butt withsmall edge losses; accompanied by factory letter confirming caliber and barrel length and noting finish “soft” with shipment to Hartley and Graham, NY, NY on July 5, 1882, 10 guns in shipment and confirmation that‘soft” indicates subject revolver was shipped without final finishing for engraving outside the factory. A nice gun that should be further researched given the inscription on the butt. Est.: $4,000-$8,000.
