Colt SAA revolver, U.S. marked, .45 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, #34196. This gun has seen restoration including lengthening of the barrel, re-stamping of some numbers andinspector initials; gun displays a gray/brown patina overall from a muted re-finish, good action, fair bore, grips are overall good with traces of inspector cartouches on both grips and the number “25” stamped on the topportion of the left grip; grips appear somewhat undersized and possibly from another Colt; accompanied by a Colt Factory Letter indicating serial number 34196 was sold and delivered to the U.S. Government Inspector at the Colt factory on January 10, 1877, one of 200 guns.
