Colt SAA revolver, .44-40 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, #129411. This interesting First generation early Single Action is in overall very good condition showing approx. 30%original blue finish, mostly in protected areas, traces of case color, crisp action, overall good bore, good markings including “RKO” stamped on both sides of the frame, “S” over the frame’s serial number and “S442” on the left side of the frame; the grips are overall good with scattered nicks, mars and a slight crack to the bottom right side of the grip and an old “P.S.” carved into the left grip. This gun was likely in the RKO Studio’s prop. Department which was later taken over by the Stembridge Armory, supplier of guns to all the great old movie companies; further research of the initials and the Stembridge inventory number of “S442” may provideadditional information on this gun.
