Colt SAA revolver, .44-40 cal., 4-3/4” barrel, custom engraved showing extensive scroll and floral coverage, raised carved snake & eagle grips, #94793 in overall very good + condition with a crisp action, good bore, sharp markingsincluding engraver’s hand cut “Colt Frontier Six Shooter” panel on left side of barrel and hand cut stylized “Sam’l Colt”portion of barrel address; fine custom grips; a beautifully executed work of firearm artistry; accompanied by a copy of afactory letter dated June 3, 1996 indicating two listings in the factory records with this serial #, one as a .45 cal. sold to the U.S. Government on August 3, 1883 in a shipment of 150 guns and one as a .44/40, 4-3/4” barrel, nickel finish,type of stocks “Not Listed”, shipped to Simmons Hardware Co., St. Louis, MO. on June 3, 1891, 20 guns in shipment.
