Colt SAA revolver, .38-40 cal., 4-3/4” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, checkered black hard rubber grips, #286983. This gun is in overall very good to near fine condition showing approx. 35% original bluefinish, strong traces of case colors in protected areas of frame and on the hammer, fine bore, crisp action, all matching visible serial numbers, fine grips. This gun is accompanied by a factory letter confirmingfeatures, grips “Not Listed”, shipped to Speer Hardware Co., Ft. Smith, Ark. on December 17, 1906 with six guns in shipment. Interestingly, Speer Hardware was where many of the Deputy U.S. Marshals in “HangingJudge” Parker’s Federal District Court purchased their guns for use in tracking down outlaws in the Indian and Oklahoma Territories.
