Colt SAA revolver, .32 W.C.F. cal., 4-3/4” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, checkered hard rubber grips, #262006 in overall good condition showing an old cleaning that is returning to a light greypatina with scattered areas of erosion, wear and pinprick pitting, crisp action, fair bore, good markings and worn but complete grips; front sight has been modified with a brass bead. Factory letter confirms features and indicates the weapon was shipped to Simmons Hardware Co., St. Louis, Mo. on January 10, 1905 in a shipment of 40 guns. Accompanying this lot is a signed letter, newspaper articles and a photo of the owner,Leonard A. Wright, stating that Wright was born in Albuquerque, NM in July 1887, that he came from a pioneer family from New Mexico and Texas, that he worked for some 60 years as a cowboy, rancher and periodic lawman.Leonard also reportedly witnessed the lynching of “Shotgun” Jim Miller, Joe Allen, BB Burrell and Jesse West at Ada, OK.
