This is a very fine example of an early pre-war Colt Single Action Army Revolver as manufactured in 1923. The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped with the, following "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER .44-40" which was introduced in 1923 and the top of the barrel is roll-stamped "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." in one line. The left side of the frame is stamped with the Colt "two-line/three-date" patent markings followed by the Rampant Colt trademark. The left front trigger guard bow is stamped with a number "1" assembler's mark above the Colt "V/P/Triangle" verified proof mark. The serial number, "344669" is stamped on the front edge of the frame and the right side of the trigger guard and back strap. The rear of the cylinder is stamped "69" and the loading gate is stamped with the assembly number "339". The two-piece black grips are unnumbered and have the Rampant Colt trademark in an oval at the top of each grip.
