Revolver, Double-action. 6-rd capacity. WW2 era British Police issued revolver. The left side of frame shows the British Purchasing Commission Mark. The "Crown-W "marking. these marks have been observed on pistols from December, 1940 through June ,1942 and was applied at the British purchasing Commission's office in New York before they exported to England. Colt made approx. 19,000 Official police revolvers in 38/200 for England in 1940-41. This revolver was manufactured in 1941. 5" barrel, with round front sight blade and cut notch rear sight. Serrated topstrap. Checked trigger. blued metal finish, chrome hammer. Exposed ejector rod. Lanyard ring on butt. checkered wood grips, with rampant Colt medallions. 2-line Colt address, Patent dates on top of the barrel. "Colt Official Police 38-200 on the left side of barrel. Rampant colt on left frame. Crown-W on left frame. 5998 on butt. 46 stamped on backstrap. Action is smooth/tight. Bore, and cylinder chambers appear excellent/bright. Blued metal finish is about 80%, with holster wear to the edges. Grips are excellent. NRA Condition-Very good. Modern firearm. C&R Eligible.
