Colt No. 3 derringer, .41 caliber rimfire, fully and finely silver stocked and signed by Tiffany & Co. Marked ‘Sterling’ on inner edge of grip. The silver is sheathed over the frame in grip of firearm, fully and finelyacid etched in art nouveau showing florals and scrolls. The sterling silver grip is crisp and in fine condition. The silver-plating on the barrel is drifting to about 50-70% showing some patina and lighterosion where the finish has lifted. The markings are sharp, edges crisp, bore near excellent. Tiffany of New York was available to special order to ornament firearms and this was considered the ultimate in firearmsdecoration in the era. These arms were generally made for exhibitions and presentations and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has displayed a number of Smith & Wessons which were similarlydecorated by Tiffany.
