Colt No. 3, 41 caliber rim fire derringer factory engraved, nickel plated, pearl grips, serial #13 pictured in “The Book of Colt Engraving” by R.L Wilson pg.219 attributed to Helfricht and formerly George S. Lewiscollection. The derringer shows approx 90-95% uncleaned and unpolished original nickel finish, some slight lifting and minor losses with beginning normal aging. The engraving is masterfully executed withprecise scrolls and detailed backgrounds. The front sight shows a pebble grained encirclement like the panel scene engraved Colt Single Actions made for exhibition and Centennial board. The pearl grips areoriginal and fit nicely, are well matched in condition. The hammer shows most case hardening dulling slightly and original color on small parts. There is only a slight nickel on breech end of barrel and pistol issharp with very good bore. A far better than average engraved Colt No. 3 with excellent provenance and published history.
