Manufactured from 1873 to 1884, this First Model New Line Revolver has a casehardened frame and ivory grips. The hammer is a unique high spur which may have been added during the period of usage. The top of the barrel is stamped with the two line Hartford address and the left side has the "COLT NEW 32" etched panel. The left side of the frame is stamped "32 CAL" and the barrel is numbered to the gun. The bird head grip frame is fitted with smooth grips and the cylinder has the stop slots on the outside.

Condition: Very fine. The barrel and cylinder retain 90% original blue finish with flaking exposing a smooth brown patina and a lightly filed area of gray on the barrel above the etched panel, which is crisp. The frame retains 95% original vivid case colors. The slightly shrunken grips are very fine with some hairline stress cracks around the screw holes. The ivory has an attractive color and grain pattern. Mechanically excellent.
