Colt Model 1911Government model .45 ACP cal. semi-automatic pistol, factory inscribed Marion Clinton Robertson on left slide, along with United States Navy shipped to Lt. Cmdr. G. V. Stewart, for Lt. Cmdr. M. C.Robertson, May 17, 1918, factory order #915, one gun in shipment, serial #C99703. The reverse of slide on right side shows patent dates and calibre marking. The pistol shows nicely aged period smooth ivory grips with amellow patina, approximately 95-98% original commercial blue finish remains, some slight scratches, minor losses at gripping areas and edges. The action is tight, the bore is excellent, all correct small parts. Theinscription and shipment dates are verified by factory letter. Marion Clinton Robertson rose to the rank of Rear Admiral and was born in Calvert, TX September 30, 1885. He attended the US Naval Academy, graduated in1909. He was commissioned an Ensign in 1911 and progressed in his promotions to Commodore on April 13, 1944, which was his highest active rank; he was promoted to Rear Admiral when placed on the retirement list in 1947.
