Colt Model 1911 commercial series government model .45 ACP caliber semiautomatic pistol in virtually mint condition retaining its original cardboard box, serial number C125473. This impeccable 1911 shows 99.9% to almost 100% original finish with no evidence of operation, fading, scratches or evidence of use. The grips are also pristine. The small parts, screws and barrel are all correct. The letter states “shipped to Sportsmen Supply Company, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, November 29,1919 with 5 guns in shipment” confirming finish and features. The cardboard box shows proper end labels and serial number on the bottom with some re-taping, small losses and normal cardboard aging. A correct early government model manualwith 1919 date and information on the magazines is included along with special instruction sheet. This Colt was shown at a Colt Collectors meeting recently and old-time collectors agreed it was the best condition specimen they had seen fordecades. In our opinion if this was a coin it would be rated as an MS-67 gem. Est.: $6000-$12,000
