Colt Model 1877 Lightning Double Action Revolver
Manufactured in 1897, this revolver was produced with a 4 1/2 inch barrel and ejector rod with round bull's-eye or donut shaped rod head. The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line Colt Hartford address, "COLT D.A. 38" on the left side, the three line, three patent date marking appears on the left side of the frame followed by the circled Rampant Colt. Matching serial number on frame, trigger guard and backstrap. Equipped with a blade front and frame notch rear sights and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the tops.

Condition: Very fine as partially refinished. The barrel and ejector housing retain 95% original finish with some thinning. The cylinder retains 80% refinished finish with some thinning to brown and high edge wear. The grip straps are refinished. 90% of the original fading case colors remain on the frame. Most of the original bright niter blue finish remains on the backside of the hammer with mostly a dark patina on the top with strong niter blue in the protected area. The face of the trigger has a smooth gray patina while the balance retains most of the original bright niter blue finish. The grips are excellent with some mild high edge wear and crisp checkering showing little wear. The circle around the rampant Colt is beginning to fade, otherwise the markings are clear and crisp. The action is excellent.
