Colt Model 1872 open top revolver in .44 rim fire caliber showing 7 ½” barrel, iron straps with Army size grips, serial number 1675. Factory letter confirms barrel length, caliber and original blue finish, shipped to J.P. Moore’s and Sons, NewYork, New York, August 25, 1873, 50 guns in shipment with grips not listed. The pistol is fitted with original to the period ivory grips showing some cracking, small losses and normal aging with a couple of slight scorching scars from lifting wire handled pots out of campfires. The metal surfaces are fairly sharp and crisp showing some scattered erosion and pinprick pitting which is minor. The barrel address is slightly light but completely visible and the patent dates are sharp and crisp. The cylinder shows 30% to 50% light original scene. The front sight is worn about halfway down from being carried. The firing pin is original and the ejector rod head is in old handmade replacement. All matching visible serialnumbers. The action is good, the bore is good and the barrel has not been stretched. The wedge is also an old handmade replacement and also a few screws were replaced. A factory letter is included.
