Colt Model 1862 Police Percussion Revolver
Manufactured in 1863. The top of the barrel has the one line New York address, "COLTS / PATENT" on the left side of the frame, the patent date on the cylinder, and "36 CAL" on the left trigger guard shoulder. Matching serial number on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and backstrap, with the partial serial number (7981) on the wedge. Fitted with a smooth varnished one piece walnut grip.

Condition: Fine. The barrel retains 40% bright original high polish blue finish and the cylinder retains 20% blue, with the overall balance a smooth brown patina. The loading lever and frame retain 30% of the original case colors with the balance a smooth silver gray. The brass has a polished appearance with traces of original silver plating in the protected areas. The grip is fine with exception of a couple chipped toes and some minor dings and scratches, with most of the varnish remaining. Mechanically fine.
