Colt Model 1862 Police .36 cal. percussion revolver, 5-1/2" barrel, extra deluxe New York style scroll engraved attributed to L. D. Nimschke, brown patina finish, period pearl grips, serial #23868. The revolvershows extensive and finely cut scrolls that are far more intricate and elaborate than normally found. There is extra treatment around the muzzle, barrel address and generally finer quality throughout. Themetal surfaces show a brown patina with some minor pitting, good markings, fairly crisp edges and the engraving is still well defined. The original to-the-period pearl grips fit impeccably and are at least verygood with 1 or 2 small losses. The backstrap and trigger guard show 20-30% original silver, all matching serial numbers. The revolver is contained within its original to-the-period red velveteen lined partitionstyle case showing rounded corners which advanced collectors identify as Hartford era. We are open Tuesday thru Friday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Little John's will be closed the Friday after the auction. Little John's will pay for packing and materials. Buyer pays actual costs of shipping and insurance. All International purchases will be sent to an exporter for shipment to foreign countries. International buyers agree to pay all cost incurred including all shipping, insurance, exporter fees, all custom and duty fees associated with shipment. Post 1898 firearms must be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensee in your place of residence. All Federal, State and Local Regulations apply and MUST be strictly followed.
