Manufactured in 1863. The top barrel flat is marked "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW YORK U.S. AMERICA-", the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT" and the cylinder is roll engraved with the Stagecoach holdup scene and marked "COLTS PATENT No 6531". The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard, back strap, with the partial serial number "6531" on the cylinder, wedge and cylinder pin, and the loading lever is un-numbered. Blue barrel and cylinder, casehardened hammer, frame and loading lever, and silver plated brass trigger guard and back strap. Brass cone front and hammer notch rear sights. Fitted with a smooth one-piece walnut grip. Comes in a non-factory period wooden case with brown velvet lining, a floral motif flash, "L" shaped screwdriver and a partially full J.P. Fine. The barrel retains 40% original blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The cylinder is a mix of 25% original blue finish and the balance smooth brown patina. The loading lever and frame have a smooth brown patina with strong traces of original case colors in protected areas of the frame. The brass has an untouched natural dark aged patina with 15% age darkened original silver remaining, concentrated in protected areas. The grip is excellent with 97% original varnish remaining, showing some minor wear on the lower edges, a couple of dark streaks on the right side and minor handling marks. The cylinder scene is 95% visible and the markings are clear. The action is fine. The custom, later production assembled case is good with some scratches and dings on the exterior, and some contact wear on the interior. The accessories are all good.
