Manufactured in 1862. The top barrel flat is marked with the one-line New York U.S. America address, the left side of the frame side is marked "COLTS/PATENT" and the left trigger guard shoulder is marked "36 CAL". The upper left front of the trigger guard is marked with the letter "N". The cylinder has the stagecoach hold-up scene with "COLTS PATENT" above the serial number. Except for the un-numbered loading lever all numbers, complete and partial, match. Fitted with a one-piece varnished walnut grip.

Condition: Fine. The barrel retains 40% original blue finish with edge wear, some thinning, several dents around the wedge and some minor pitting. The remaining metal surfaces have a smooth gray patina with some flashes of original case colors in the protected areas. The brass has an attractive aged patina. The cylinder scene is visible and the markings are clear. The slightly undersize, possibly replaced correct original grip is very fine with almost all of the original varnish remaining showing some wear on the lower edges and a few minor dents. The action needs adjustment.
