Colt Model 1861 round barrel Navy revolver in .36 caliber percussion with U. S. N. markings stamped on the bottom of the brass grip strap, serial number 2020. Consignor’s inventory card indicates shipped to “Navy Yard Washington, DC in 1862”according to a Colt factory letter which we have not located and is not currently included. The metal surfaces show a gray patina finish with scattered light to slightly heavy pitting with the heavier pitting occurring on the front of thebarrel and the cylinder. The barrel address and Colt’s patent are both very legible. There is some traces of case hardening on the frame, hammer and lever. The grips are very good plus but show no inspection marks and no evidence of ever havebeing marked. The action works well and the interior and bore are both exceptionally good. All matching visible serial numbers. The U.S. N. stamp on the butt is absolutely genuine. Collection of William A. Gary consigned by hisestate. Est.: $2500-$5000
