Colt Model 1861 Navy conversion to .38 centerfire cal. Navy markings on bottom of barrel, gray patina finish, varnished wood grips, The barrel is numbered 3058, frame 4383, trigger guard and backstrap 3058,cylinder shows 4356 and conversion number 3058. The left side of the frame shows the 1871 and 72 patent dates. The grips though a Colt product are not a good fit, and show about 60% varnish with a couple of largechips, slight wear at the edges. The metal surfaces show some light to moderate pitting, the barrel address is good, the cylinder shows a trace of scene, the hammer and frame show traces of case hardening, a couple ofscrews are replaced. Action good, bore very good. Most probably a military overrun sold commercially or dealer assembled from surplus military parts. Est.: $1,100-$2,200
