Manufactured in 1864. The top of the barrel has the standard one line New York U.S. AMERICA address (parts faint), "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame, and "36 CAL" and "V" on the left side of the trigger guard. There is a "crown/V" and "crown/GP" proof mark on the left side of the barrel ahead of the wedge and alternating between each nipple recess on the cylinder. The cylinder is roll engraved with the Texas Navy scene and stamped with the partial serial number "635". The wedge also has the correct partial serial number "635", the arbor pin is marked "0635", and the complete matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap. Fitted with a varnished one-piece walnut grip.
BBL: 7 1/2 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 36 percussion
Finish: blue/casehardened/silver
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 20635
Condition: Very good as partially refinished. The metal surfaces have a smooth mottled grayish brown patina with some bright original blue finish present in the protected areas of the barrel. There are a number of dings on the barrel lug. The cylinder scene is mostly visible with exception of one chamber exhibiting heavy battering, most likely caused by repair of a burst chamber. The trigger guard and back strap retain 90% original aging silver plating with some minor flaking and some blistering. The grip is also very good with 95% original varnish, a chip and some minor wear on the lower edge and a few minor dings and scratches. The action is fine.
