Manufactured in 1867 for the commercial market with a three screw frame. The revolver has the one line New York barrel address, "COLTS/PATENT" on the left frame side, "44 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard and the navy battle scene on the cylinder. The revolver has matching numbers. Fitted with a one-piece varnished walnut grip.
BBL: 8 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 44 percussion
Finish: blue/casehardened/silver
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 166215
Condition: Very good. The revolver retains traces of original blue finish in the protected areas with a smooth dark patina on the balance. There is some pitting at the muzzle and on the loading lever and some light spotting overall. Most of the cylinder scene retains. The front strap remains strong traces of original silver plating in the protected areas with the exposed brass having an untouched aged patina. A crude rifle style rear sight was added to the barrel just ahead of the forcing cone. The grip is also very good with half of the weathered varnish, high edge wear and some scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
