Manufactured in 1864. The top of the barrel is marked "-ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-" and the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT". The rebated replacement cylinder is roll engraved with the naval battle scene, is numbered "2854" with "0039" stamped below and has inspector marks "G" and "S". The matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap with an "S" below each and the partial number "0039" is marked on the wedge and arbor pin. Frame is cut for a shoulder stock, blade front and hammer notch rear sights, brass trigger guard and fitted with smooth one-piece walnut grip with a visible cartouche on both sides.

Condition: Very good as assembled (replaced cylinder). The barrel retains 40% original blue finish with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The remaining metal surfaces have a smooth gray and brown patina with strong original blue finish on the top of the back strap and numerous small dents on the butt. The trigger guard has an aged patina with traces of the original darkened silver in protected areas. The grip is good with some wear on the lower edges, a few minor dents on the bottom and a few overall scattered minor dents. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
