Colt Model 1855 Root revolver 6A variation, 4 ½” round barrel, .31 caliber percussion, British proofed, New York addressed, with original case and accessories, serial number 8727. This Root retains 50% to 70% originalblue drifting to a brown patina with some erosion and pinprick pitting at firing areas and mostly around front edge of frame. There are some scattered nicks and mars. Approximately 50% to 70% cylinder sceneremains. The markings are good and the action revolves well but is not staying on full cock. The grips show a small loss at the toe and some light cleaning on left grip with about 60% varnish on right grip. All matching visible serial numbers. The case is original to the period and lined in green felt or baize. An original instruction label remains in the lid with Pall Mall London address. The interior of the case is good to very goodcondition with some slight staining and normal aging. Some tatters to the label. An original James Dixon bag flask is retained which shows approximately 80% thinning lacquer with good spring. Also included is a
