Colt Model 1855 First Model sporting rifle, .36 cal., 24" round barrel, retaining original side mounted cleaning rod and oiler, serial #274. The rifle retains 50-70% original blue drifting on the edges with some spotting and erosion down the left side, some light cleaning of these areas and some minor pitting. The barrel address is sharp and crisp; the cylinder shows Colts patent, sporting rifle, with 75% original cylinderscene. The stock is very good+ to near fine with 90% varnish, a few dings and mars, excellent wood to metal fit; case hardening still showing on early butt plate. The original rear and front sight are retained,the action is good, the interior near excellent. Only approximately 1,000 of these early rifles were manufactured and they are hard to find in this nice condition especially with rod and oiler. Est.:$14,000-$28,000

We are open Tuesday thru Friday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Little John's will be closed the Friday after the auction. Little John's will pay for packing and materials. Buyer pays actual costs of shipping and insurance. All International purchases will be sent to an exporter for shipment to foreign countries. International buyers agree to pay all cost incurred including all shipping, insurance, exporter fees, all custom and duty fees associated with shipment. Post 1898 firearms must be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensee in your place of residence. All Federal, State and Local Regulations apply and MUST be strictly followed.
