Colt Model 1851 Navy revolver, .36 cal. percussion, Fourth Model with capping groove, blue and case hardened finish, varnished wood grips, serial #160230. The barrel shows 10-20% blue mixed in a browning patina withsome scattered light to moderate erosion, pinprick pitting and normal aging. The top flat of the barrel is work and the barrel address half visible; this wear is from a holster. The cylinder shows 50-70% scenewith some minor pitting and erosion, and light cleaning long ago during use. The hammer, frame and loading lever show strong traces of case hardening within a light patina. The straps show traces of silver and a few nicks. The varnished wood grips are good to very good with 50% varnish, some nicks, mars, wear at the edges, but generally good. All matching visible serial numbers. Interestingly, the ramrod shows 1602, thefirst 4 numbers rather than the last 4, which we consider correct. The action good, the bore good. An honest 7.5 on 1 to 10 scale. Est.: $1,400-$2,800
