Manufactured in 1856. The top barrel flat is marked with the one line New York city address, and "COLTS/PATENT" on left side of frame. The lower left side of the barrel lug is marked with the number "1", an "X" on the left trigger guard shoulder and "V" on the upper left front of the trigger guard bow. The cylinder is roll engraved with the Texas naval battle scene. The complete matching serial number is marked on the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard, cylinder and back strap, with the partial serial number, "2788" marked on the arbor pin, wedge and loading lever. Standard brass cone front and hammer notch rear sight and fitted with a smooth one-piece varnished walnut grip.

Condition: Good. The cylinder and loading lever have a smooth mottled gray patina, with some minor pitting and dings on the cylinder. The remaining metal has been lightly cleaned and has a bright metal appearance. The brass has a natural dark aged patina. The grip is fine with a few small minor dings on the bottom and overall some minor dings and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is slightly out of time, but functions well.
