Manufactured in 1856. The top barrel flat is marked with the one line New York city address, and "COLTS/PATENT" on left side of frame. The lower left side of the barrel lug is marked with the number "2", an "X" on the left trigger guard shoulder and "K" on the upper left front of the trigger guard bow. The cylinder is roll engraved with the Texas naval battle scene. The complete matching serial number is marked on the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard, cylinder and back strap, with the partial serial number, "2712" marked on the arbor pin, wedge and loading lever. Standard brass cone front and hammer notch rear sight with a period non-factory installed fixed sight dovetailed at the breech end of the barrel. Fitted with a smooth one piece grip.

Condition: Good. The metal surfaces have a smooth gray patina. The brass has a natural aged patina with strong traces of original silver plating in the protected areas. The grip is very good with patches of varnish remaining. The cylinder scene and markings are clear. The action is very good.
