Manufactured during the Civil War in 1862. This is a fine original example of a Colt Model 1849 Pocket revolver. The top barrel flat is marked with the New York U.S. America address, with "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame. The 6 round cylinder is roll engraved with the stagecoach holdup scene and marked "COLT'S PATENT/No 13425". The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard and back strap, with the partial number, "3425" on the loading lever and arbor pin, and "13398" on the wedge. The upper left rear of the trigger guard is marked with the number "7". Fitted with a one piece varnished grip.

Condition: Fine. The barrel retains 90% original blue finish with a number of minor dents and dings, and some minor spotting at the breech end, some edge wear and some thinning. The cylinder is absent of blue and has a smooth gray patina overall with clear scene and marking. The hammer and loading lever have a smooth mottled gray patina. The frame retains 50% original case colors on the left side, and 20% on the right, with a smooth brownish gray patina on the balance. The trigger guard and back strap retain 60% original silver plating, mostly on the front strap and trigger guard, which is darkening with age. The exposed brass has an aged patina. The grip is excellent with 95% original varnish, some lower edge wear and a few small minor dents and dings. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
