For your consideration in this lot is a RARE Colt Model 1862 Pocket Navy Conversion revolver, chambered for .38 Rim Fire. Between 1862 through 1873, Colt produced 19,000 Pocket Navies, and approximately 20,000 Pocket Police. This fine example utilizes a brass frame, nickel finish, round 3 1/2" barrel, five-shot cylinder, showing the wagon raid scene, and beautiful walnut grips. The revolver is marked in numerous spots with period correct roll stamping, reading: "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. Co. - HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A." on the top of the barrel, two line patent dates on the left side of the frame, reading "-PAT. JULY. 25. 1871-" over "-PAT. JULY. 2. 1872-", ".36 CAL" on the left side of the trigger assembly - which this revolver was converted from, and showing matching serial numbers on the bottom of the grips, barrel, frame, and trigger assembly, additionally, the cylinder shows a Colt partial serial number, accompanied by "COLTS PATENT". Overall, the revolver shows good condition, with exceptional walnut grips, and a mellow patina forming on the brass backstrap, and trigger assembly. The nickel finish does show wear indicative of age. Mechanically, the revolver has a tight action, in good time, with strong cylinder lock-up. As well, the barrel shows good condition, with strong rifling, but displaying some darkness and rust. The revolver qualifies as an Antique Handgun, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: 3624.
