Manufactured in 1897, this Colt SAA Frontier Six Shooter revolver actually could have seen Old West usage. The particular revolver is chambered for the very desirable .44-40 cartridge and has "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" stamped on the left side of the barrel. The frame is of the transverse cylinder pin variety, but preceeded the smokeless powder guarantee by Colt which came a few years later. The top of the barrel is marked "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG CO/ HARTFORD CT. U. S. A." and the left side of the frame has the two line, three patent date marking followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap, and the loading gate is marked with the assembly number "879". Blue finish with casehardened frame. Fitted with two piece checkered grips with the molded Rampant Colt in an oval at the tops. "3529" is scratched on the inside of each grip panel and "MMT" on the left panel.
