Colt Frontier .44 Cal Single Action Army Revolver
For your consideration is a Spanish-made “Colt Frontier” Single Action .44 caliber revolver. The Colt Frontier or Frontier Six-Shooter was a Colt's 1873 "Model P" type revolver manufactured in .44-40 Winchester caliber, so that it was compatible with Winchester Model 1873 ammunition. Production began in 1877. Colt Frontier Six-Shooter was the actual name of the Colt pistol model, and this was acid-etched on the left side of the barrel. After 1889, the legend was roll-stamped until 1919, when the caliber designation ".44-40" was added. This most likely Spanish-made Colt Frontier revolver utilizes a 5 3/8” round barrel chambered in .44 caliber. The barrel has a fixed blade front sight and integrated rear sight. The revolver showcases a faded nickel finish, showing significant loss of finish on the left side. The left of the barrel is stamped “Colt Frontier Cal. .44”. The left side of the frame is also struck with Colt’s prancing pony. The revolver has matching serial numbers (51847) on the frame, trigger guard, and grip. The revolver shows good condition to the walnut grip panels. Serial Number: 68. This firearm qualifies as a Curio & Relic, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
